What are the odds that two people could meet online, and not find out until their first date that they are both nurses working at the SAME hospital?! Pretty slim, I would think. But Megan and Mark did it, and when it came time for their wedding it was a prescription for fun…and lots of it! There was so many custom touches that really showed off their unique personalities- from the custom cuff links that were Megan’s special gift to her groom, to the pharmacy inspired seating cards and table names- complete with the head table named-what else- Viagra! Their adorable daughter played a prominent role…the three of them got married! Her expressions are just priceless.
The combination of the warm night air, cute, personalized touches and their warm, friendly upbeat personalities, made for some great shots! Thank you Megan & Mark for being so much fun and so willing to try ham it up for the camera, and really be yourselves!
We were very fortunate to work with many of the premier wedding and event vendors in the Santa Clarita Valley, who also happen to be our friends…it takes a village…and we had one! Thank you to:
Cruz’s Bridal for the magnificent dresses
The Tuxedo Revue for the gentlemen’s attire
Charmaine’s Bouquet Canyon Florist for the beautiful flowers to enhance Megan’s vision for the day
Matrimony Films for their complete video coverage of the event…and their light when we needed it
AV Party Rentals for the setup and rental items
Jill’s Cake Creations for the inspired black, white and pink flamingo cake
Salt Creek Catering for the all the delicious food
Together we shared in Megan & Mark’s Happily Ever After!
We had the honor to capture the priceless moments at the wedding of Kirsten and Brandon Caro during this past summer at the spectacular Bel Air Bay Club in the Pacific Palisades. If there were two words to describe these two, it would be ‘fun loving’. Here’s a little background story about this couple. Kirsten had been a flower girl at her aunt’s wedding that we photographed over 20 years ago. Although Kirsten’s mom was secretly hoping the couple would choose us again, she kept mum, and was thrilled when the kids told her she had selected R & R on their own.
Our first to photograph these two was in Carpentaria for their engagement photos. Kirsten certainly is a crafty one! She had made her own props and even used seashells to mark the special day. When it was time for the wedding, we were excited to see what these two would come up with. The wedding was held on a beautiful Friday evening. Being a local bride, she used some of the top vendors in the Santa Clarita Valley. Ariel Schumow did the ladies’ makeup, Matrimony Films filmed the day, and Joyful Noise provided the entertainment and DJ services.
To continue with the beachy theme for the wedding, there were seashells as place cards, sand dollars as favors, and the whole event overlooked the ocean. The details were phenomenal, and most were made by the bride. There were beautiful handmade signs throughout the whole event. They also had a customized sand ceremony that tied in perfectly with their beach theme. This sweet twosome also wrote their own vows sharing the most intimate promises and devotions to each other for all the guests to witness.
As the night went on, this fun-loving bunch of family and friends really had a good time. People were having a blast with the photo booth the couple provided. Guests had the opportunity to browse their beautiful engagement pictures in the customized guest book they had us create for everyone to sign. The table numbers were named after beaches and the sweetheart table was the ‘Jamaica’ table, as that was the location of the newlywed’s honeymoon. Details, details, details! Kirsten did a fantastic job of carrying the theme throughout their special day. One of the most beautiful moments of the night was when Brandon played his guitar and sang to his new wife. It is a moment like that you can tell the deepness of one’s love.
The evening wrapped up with a magical sparkler farewell and the couple lived happily ever after. We had marvelous time capturing the special moments of this genuinely sweet and loving couple’s special day. We wish them a lifetime of love and happiness.
Our first wedding of 2014 provided lots of first for us: it was our first time at the hotel- Le Meridien Delfina Santa Monica, it was the first time we had ever photographed both the bride’s Bat Mitzvah and the groom’s Bar Mitzvah, it was the first time time I (Jody) found out how well I could shoot through my own tears. I’m not trying to convince anyone that from time to time, I do not push back a tear of two at a wedding, but this day was filled with moments when I was pushing back a flood. Muscle memory took over and I kept on shooting. I guess the point I am trying to make was just how special a day this was- Carolyn & Andrew share such a sweet, wonderful, supportive relationship with one another, and both families are so close, and supportive of their kids, it was really a pleasure to be there to share this important event with them. And then there were the grandmas, oh, the bubbes! Both Irene & Louise share such a special relationship with their grandkids, and just think another wedding in 9 months for Emma & Josh…we can hardly wait!!!
Enough said, here are some of my favorites moments of the day-still to come-lots more to come- reception part 2 later this week. In the meantime…enjoy these…we certainly are!
The beautiful bridesmaids dresses for Carolyn & Andrew’s wedding were purchased from Cruz’s Bridal, who also did the custom alterations on all the ladies’ dresses.

Trish and Micael’s story proves love conquers all, especially distance. There story is a testament to the powers of love and that anything is possible! Here’s their story:
Trish had recently moved back to California, after living in Arizona for a few years. Coming home with the desire to start over, little did she know coming home would be the start of the best adventure of her life. Moving in with her two best friends John & Becky, Trish spent months moping around, until Becky decided it was time to stop the cycle and go shopping! Every girl loves to shop right? It’s the perfect cure, and can lead to a chance encounter that can change your life.
As usual the weather was beautiful so the girls went down to 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica. As they were browsing the kiosks Trish heard a strange accent from a man standing next to her. She couldn’t help herself from eavesdropping to try to figure out where he was from. Inquiring about the interesting man next to her, Trish asked Becky where she thought he was from. Her response, as any good girlfriend would say, was “I don’t know, why don’t you ask him.”
To Trish’s surprise, when she turned to finally talk to the gentleman, he was already staring at her with an adorable smile on his face. This handsome stranger had overheard Trish’s conversation with Becky, and caught her off-guard. He gave a little chuckle and said, “Well, are you going to ask me where I’m from?”
That simple little sentence was the ice-breaker that started it all. As they started talking Trish’s interest in this handsome stranger, now known as Micael, grew. Unfortunately, he was only in town for 3 more days; before he was to return to Switzerland! Not giving up, Trish invited Micael to accompany her and Becky to Magic Mountain when he was in town next. Unable to exchange phone numbers due to the expensive cost of communication, their friendship grew through Facebook.
Chatting back and forth on Facebook, Trish and Micael decided to set up a Skype date. After months of developing a friendship, it was clear it was destined to be more. The long distance relationship was not easy with a 9 hour time difference; but with dedication they both proved love can conquer anything. He would wake up an hour earlier than his usual time before getting ready for work just to talk to Trish, and again before he went to bed. Only managing to see each other almost every 3 to 4 months, finally being reunited on January 4th 2013, Trish not only got to see the man she loved, but it would be a day she would never forget.
After a beautiful dinner at the Odyssey, they walked around Griffith Park Observatory. Luckily, the night was clear and the city sparkled as they stood holding each other. He confessed his love for Trish and then dropped down on one knee and asked her to marry him. Trish found herself saying yes before he could even finish asking the question!
Another rave review for R & R Creative Photography on Wedding Wire:
Now that our wedding is over, I wanted to follow up with my review for R & R Photography… they were just as fantastic for our wedding as they were for our engagement pictures.
They were so efficient and extremely professional. They knew every photo to take and what shots would look good. Even our wedding guests were making comments the whole night about how awesome they were! From capturing our first kiss, to catching everyone’s moves on the dance floor, Dave and Jody were dedicated to documenting every moment of our big day.
They made our big day stress free and were quite professional the whole time. It was spectacular to have the ease of knowing they were doing a great job. I would strongly recommend them to anyone!!
Thank you as always Dave and Jody for being a part of a huge milestone… your works of art are breathtaking!!
When Al and his fiancé, Jennifer, came in to meet with us, we knew we would have fun with this couple. We have known Al since he was in elementary school with our son. Al and Jennifer too, go far back… They started as neighbors, then friends, and eventually that turned into a romance. Their love story started right here, in Newhall. Nine and a half years of dating, and Al finally popped the question in Big Bear while snowboarding.
When it came time to do their engagement photos, they had tons of ideas. The first part of their session was at their condo with their cute little Yorkie, Ace. Jen is quite the baker so they wanted to incorporate her love for baking and Al’s enthusiasm for her sweets into their pictures. I don’t think Al minded eating the cupcakes for multiple shots! The next stop was at TPC to take some photos near the lake and catch their love for country by rocking some cowboy boots and hats. We then moved onto their old stomping grounds: Hart High School. Here we caught them kissing in the bleachers, tossing a softball on the field, and throwing around a football. We were able to get to know them even better and capture a lot of their personalities in these photos! We couldn’t wait to hang out with them again at their wedding.
When their wedding day arrived, we knew exactly how to get these two smiling for the camera. The bride and groom got ready at Hyatt Westlake where we captured some great getting ready shots and special moments, especially the first look with Jen and her dad. It was a priceless moment. Thanks to the Friday night traffic on the 101, we risked losing precious shooting time, so I took the bride, her matron of honor and maid of honor in my car so we can get all the pictures we would need, and not have to wait for the limo to make the round trip back after dropping off the guys. Luckily my cooler was loaded with cold water and snacks for everyone. Once we arrived at Spanish Hills Country Club, we went right into their moment to remember. It was such a touching exchange for these two. These intimate moments for a couple are a memory to be cherished forever, and we take that very seriously. As we shot the ceremony and moved into the reception, there wasn’t a detail left undone. There were personal touches everywhere. With the intimate group they had, you could see all the love for one another throughout the room. Everyone knew each other and had a great time. This was one group that sure knew how to party! We were so happy to be a part of this beautiful day and go home with a yummy cookie for the drive home.
Thank you so much Jen & Al for sharing your day with us, and for all the nice posts on Facebook. We love your album too…that’s why it became a sample book at the studio.
